Mailer # 3 Date: 5th August 2007
Former Ambassador of India to Portugal, Mrs. Madhu Bhaduri filed a
RTI application with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). Her mother lives in
Hauz Khas, block K and had been complaining about a blocked sewer
for a month. Mrs. Bhaduri spoke to the Junior Engineer(JE) to get
the matter looked into as the block had started to stink and
mosquitoes had become a big problem. The Engineer simply said he'd
look into the matter and that the DJB was using very heavy machinery
to rectify the problem and did nothing.
She filed a RTI application and almost instantly the situation reversed. The engineer even visited her mother's house, touched her feet and promised that the situation would be immediately attended to. Read this story at: http://www.bangaloregiri.com/rtisuccess1.htm All of us have, on average, 3 major complaints about Bangalore but, apart from grumbling and groaning, what have we done about it? Have you filed an RTI Application? If not, why not? If you would like to file an application under RTI and would like BangaloreGiri's help, we would be most happy to be of assistance.
Let's act immediately. If each member filed one application under RTI, just imagine how much Bangalore will improve! Regards,
